Kickapoo Country Fair program

An good example of 1 part Modernist simplicity + 1 part Art Nouveau/Arts&Crafts humanist?

The cover includes a logo and a "woodcut" image, both created in Adobe Illustrator, but with every intention to reflect some level of human intervention (with what other than the pen tool and a Wacom tablet?); humanist. The American-born Trade Gothic type calls back to the early 20th century, when gothic types like this were fresh, and, amazingly, revolutionary.

The asymetric ordering of the center spread of the program (this was printed on newsprint, by the way) is an attempt to heed the instruction given in Tschichold's manifesto from 1923, The New Typography.

If you are a graphic artist stuck on a computer, and you don't already own a Wacom tablet (the 4 x 5 is all you really need), I strongly recommend that you purchase one to save your hand and your mind.
