Maycation 2008

I have excuses. I have proof. I have been away for most of the recent month. I am the least reliable member here at HDP. Here's what I was up to:

Evidence that conservation efforts have paid off nicely in the Peshtigo Harbor area...I had never seen two males together like this. It looks like an adult male accompanied by a juvenile. I spent a few days fishing with old friends at the mouth of the Peshtigo River and upstream a bit. Unbelievable scenery, even better fishing. One of the highlights of the trip was the obligatory dinner at Mickey Lu's Bar-B-Q in Marinette. I believe they serve the finest burger ever. Order two, they are small. Don't forget the malt.

Sylvan Lake--Custer State Park in South Dakota's Black Hills. That's my friend Scott Quimby, fly fishing at nightfall. There was no hidden Mayan chamber as far as we could find (I actually haven't seen the Nicholas Cage movie featuring Sylvan Lake and Mt Rushmore, but have heard they take some liberties with the geography.) we spent six days at Scott's family cabin in the park before Memorial Day. I will tell the whole story next moon...
